about

12 early pieces from CDRs and DVDs including 'Sculpture LP1', 'Stop Bravely At The Surface' and 'Statuary Rites'

Reon was not Detroit via Bethnal Green

Scatter Piece was bongos liquefied by a Foxtex R8 and a Yamaha V50 levitating into the cosmic eye

Dymaxion Sculpture was a failed attempt to make something like Cool In The Pool with an Akai S3000 and a Beige G3

Zirconia was probably made with a circuit bent Yamaha Portasound I used to carry everywhere

Multiversal Interference was guitar, computer and tapeloops, the 'beats' were done with Soundhack on the G3 and recycled on 'Tooth Lock' from Rotary Signal Emitter

Outer Radiance existed since the earliest Sculpture gigs at the Horse Hospital, London and the Kule, Berlin (I don't remember which was first). At the time I was playing modified Portasound, a Discman, Minidisc and MXR pitch transposer

Spring Hook was a live slayer that Reuben and I used in an early video we made as a duo, 'Sculpture Is'

Marionette was an improvised performance broadcast live on Resonance 104.4FM

Flossy was made while ineptly circuit bending a Casio

Noze Musc was made for a noise compilation called 'our pheromones are all loose' on 4th harmonic records

Adventurine was based around one of the first 1/4" tape loops I randomly pulled out of a bin bag. This version was recorded live at the Spitz

Gamed Blurts contains atypical big beats

about

Sculpture London, UK

Audiovisual duo, Sculpture, aka musician Dan Hayhurst & visual artist Reuben Sutherland, explore temporary states of digital/physical recomposition, device misuse, comic strips, pattern making, video art and perceptual manipulation. A volatile simultaneity links the duo's visual turntablism and electronic music forms, sensory associations pursuing an obscure logic. ... more
